I like Leunig's cartoons - they always make me smile. This one makes me want to grab a book, find a shady tree beside a river, and just sit.
I'd probably take along a book of meditations on nature, or perhaps The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupéry. I'd also take a nature journal to scribble in.
What do you consider to be essential riverside reading material?

Definitely the BMW E30 Service manual. By the way, I have decided that my first car hopefully will be a 1991 BMW 318is.

The one on the right. Stick shift. And will be mine :)
Hopefully
Right then.... anyone else.... anyone??? A car service manual - you've got to be kidding me :)
I like that BMW. I wonder how that compares to other people's first car? Hmmmm.... I feel a new blog post coming on....
Peace,
Tamara
hehe. well it's 20 years old. it'd need work to keep running, as parts tend to go bad by then. i could get one for less than $2000USD.. and it's definitely TONS better than the sorry camrys and civics out there..
...and they paid like 5 times as much for their boring car than i will have to for my fun car...
baha...
plus i get to learn to work on cars
smart move Joel - keeping away from American cars...and, yes, Camrys and Civics are probably on the dull side. I think you are right that you WILL learn to work on cars if you go with a 20yo BMW! However, I agree that is a good thing.
good luck with it
